About the School
Established in 1974 under the guidance of Founder and Head of School, Mary Lou Cobb, The Cobb School provides authentic Montessori education for children from 15 months through twelve years of age. The school serves 130 students from the Farmington Valley and has thriving Toddler, Primary and Elementary classes. The Cobb School classroom environments were designed with the children’s development in mind and are fully equipped with beautiful, AMI-approved materials. The school houses eight classrooms, art studio, library, science lab, a photography dark room, gardens, a Great Hall (gymnasium) athletic fields and playgrounds.
The dedication of faculty and staff to communicating the Montessori philosophy provides a strong, nurturing community that supports the parents and young children in our care.
Settled in the 1670s, Simsbury features a charming New England downtown with historic houses, working farms, recreation areas and highly ranked public and independent schools. Simsbury is just 5 miles from the lively urbane center of West Hartford, 1.5 hours from Boston, 2 hours from New York City and just 10 miles from Bradley International Airport.
About the Position
The successful candidate must have knowledge of and ability to communicate the Montessori philosophy, and have strong management and organizational skills. A love of children and deep desire to fully engage in an exceptional community are essential.
