About the School
Blue School is an active player in a critical undertaking: the movement to reimagine education. Our children’s future will likely be marked by environmental, economic and civic challenges.
Scientists and educators know that many of society’s current educational practices actually hamper the development of natural curiosity, innovation, confidence, courage and compassion in children. Blue School believes these are the very qualities our future leaders and citizens need to possess in order to develop a more sustainable and harmonious world.
Blue School is an independent school that serves children from age 2 through 8th grade. Blue School seeks to both practice and model a dynamic balance between creative thinking, academic mastery and self and social learning, to educate and launch irrepressible innovators, and adaptable problem solvers. Blue School is in the midst of growth and expansion into a building recently secured at a nearby location. Our families come from all over New York City to our state-of-the-art facility in the South Street Seaport area. The School is a growing and dynamic school, and seeks a highly flexible, creative, entrepreneurial, strategic and bold leader to work with our leadership team, founders and board as the School expands, and as Blue School fulfills our public purpose and moves into our next phases of growth.
