“Where curiosity leads to discovery”
JDS, located in Bellevue, WA, was founded in 1980 by a small group of community leaders who longed to provide an exceptional values-based, ‘whole child’ education delivered in a Jewish environment and made available to every child regardless of Jewish lineage. JDS serves approximately 85 students, Early Childhood through 8th Grade with ambitions of serving100+ students. 72% of the families are unaffiliated with a synagogue or other Jewish organization that serves as their community.
JDS provides an integrated curriculum of learning through inquiry, exploration and reflection, placing great emphasis on the strategies and processes involved in learning and self-growth. The inquiry-based curriculum engages students in multi-age groups, allowing them to learn through exploration – a natural process for children.
JDS takes an integrated approach to Jewish Life and Learning. Just as Judaism is an integrated approach to living, Jewish Life and Learning is integrated into the educational program at Jewish Day School. It begins with the JDS mission: exceptional education, confident, wise & compassionate upstanders, community stewardship. Jewish Life and Learning informs each part of the JDS school model. The JDS Core Values are Jewish values and they guide who the school wants their students to become. The Core Values and other Jewish values are integrated into the day and taught by all the teachers of all subjects.
