Educators Collaborative is pleased to assist the Vail Mountain School in its search for their new Director of Strategic Enrollment Management, to begin July 1, 2025.
About the School
With an enrollment of 365 students, Vail Mountain School was established in 1962 and is the only independent K-12 school in the region. Their rigorous, globally inspired, college preparatory curriculum readies students for challenges both in and out of the classroom. Rooted in experiential education, ethical leadership, and environmental stewardship, the school’s top-notch educational program is enriched by athletics, independent projects, service learning, travel-based Intraterm classes, winter hut trips, and ski days. The school enjoys an ongoing partnership with the Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, the nation’s top-ranked club for highly competitive snow sports. Just steps from their back door are trails that lead to majestic 13,000 foot peaks, mountain meadows filled with wildflowers, pristine waterfalls, and diverse ecosystems. This setting provides an environment that fuels an education that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
About the Position
The Director of Strategic Enrollment Management is a strategic thought partner to school leadership, leading and assuming responsibility for the development, implementation, and assessment of the School’s efforts to recruit, admit, enroll, and retain a mission appropriate student body. The school has just completed an ambitious new strategic plan, Learning Elevated, and the Director will have the foundation, structure, and opportunity to bring to fruition key strategic goals in partnership with the Head of School, senior administrators, and the Board of Trustees. This is an exciting and pivotal time in the school’s rich history, and the new Director of Strategic Enrollment Management will serve a critical role in VMS’s work to live out its mission and to continue its work to “educate and elevate humans for good”.
Anticipated salary range is $115-135k
Mission
We inspire tomorrow’s ethical leaders by developing character, seeking knowledge, and building a community of lifelong learners from the heart of the Colorado mountains to the world beyond.
Values
Character | We practice kindness, develop moral courage, cultivate self-discipline, and seek individual purpose that connects us to the greater good. We speak with honesty, express respect for self and others, act with humility, and embrace differing perspectives to engage with the world and lead with integrity.
Knowledge | We challenge with high expectations and nurture with support, meeting learners where they are and taking them further than they think possible. We foster joy and intellectual curiosity in acquiring knowledge, stimulating creativity and creating a lifetime love of learning. We pursue meaningful questions and instill concrete competencies, habits, and knowledge that learners transfer to the real world.
Community | We are an inclusive community of students, teachers, parents, alumni, and local partners rooted in a culture of trust and a deep sense of belonging. We grow through collaboration, cross-age interactions, and a commitment to service and experiences that encourage us to see the world through a lens of empathy, respect, and appreciation of others.
Leadership | We feel authentic responsibility to ourselves and our community. We understand our role as citizens to act for the greater good and seek solutions for a complex world through learning, reflecting, and ethical decision making.
Environment | We venture into our mountains and valleys to discover a sense of place in the natural world. We learn to love our environment and reflect on our role within it so we can be responsible stewards for future generations.
