Green Acres School has embraced the principles of progressive education since 1934. The school’s program nurtures children’s development, encourages respect for others, and fosters students’ ability to observe, question, evaluate, and make decisions. The school’s program and faculty have achieved a national reputation among progressive schools. From its inception, diversity and inclusion have been mainstays of the community. Located on fifteen wooded acres in a quiet, residential neighborhood, but also quite close to Washington DC, the school is able to emphasize outdoor education as well as cultural/historical field trips to the district.
