Mary Seppala

Mary Seppala is an educator with forty-four years of experience in public, international and independent schools. Mary’s experience is broad having taught and Marie-Seppalaadministered regular education and special education from Pre-K to the college level. She has been an elementary teacher and counselor, a high school counselor, a district special education administrator, a district superintendent, an international school head and an independent school head.

After completing a long tenure in public education in the United States and abroad, Mary was the first woman and first American to become Head of School at Munich International School. Most recently Mary has been 12th Head of School at The Agnes Irwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania where she completed a 40 million dollar campaign and established an education research center.

Mary hold a B,S. in Education, an M.Ed. in Counseling and an Ed.D in Student Development. She has served as an International Baccalaureate Association (IBO) Regional Advisory Council Member for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, a Board Member for the Association of German International Schools, a member of the Northeast Lab Regional Superintendents at Brown, University and Massachusetts Superintendent’s Association.

Having extensive experience in recruiting staff at multiple levels across the United States, Europe and Asia, Mary is also experienced in strategic planning, program development, executive coaching, contract negotiations, school climate assessments, mediation, crisis response and risk management.
