Evan Peterson

Evan Peterson joins Educator’s Collaborative after 41 years serving independent schools, 23 years as Headmaster/Head of School. Evan started his career at The Wardlaw School in Edison, N.J in 1974. He taught Science and coached football, swimming, and baseball. He was a member of the faculty when Evan PetersonWardlaw merged with The Hartridge School to become Wardlaw-Hartridge School in 1976. Evan served as Director of Admissions, Dean of Students, and Assistant Headmaster. In 1986 Evan became the Upper School Principal at Fort Worth Country Day.

In 1992 Evan moved on to become Headmaster at Hampton Roads Academy in Virginia. After ten years, Evan accepted an invitation to return to Fort Worth Country Day as their fifth headmaster. He retired from FWCD in 2015 after serving thirteen years as the Head of School.

Evan has chaired school accreditation teams in Virginia and Texas. He has written teacher evaluation programs and developed a computer program to help develop and manage school budgets. Evan is also one of the founding heads for Malone Schools Online Network (MSON), a synchronous virtual classroom now being offered to fourteen independent schools throughout the U.S. Evan has given workshops at regional and national conferences as well as conferences in the U.K. He has authored chapters in NAIS publications, most recently in The Handbook for Aspiring Heads (NAIS 2011). He has served on the Virginia Symphony board of directors, and has been President of the Virginia Peninsula Rotary Club. He served on the executive Committee for ISAS and was chair of the Program Committee and the Finance Committee.
